Sine Bundgaard is one of her generations leading scandinavias sopranos. She has an ongoing international carreer in leading european operahouses and is especially in demand as an excellent Mozart-singer.

She guested leading operahouses like Oper Zürich, Opera de Paris and Bayerische Staatsoper, performed at numerous festivals like Edinburgh festival, Holland festival, Prague easter festival, Innsbruck festival and collaborated with leading orchestras like CBSO, Danish radio symphony orchestra and Freiburger barokorchester among many others.

Since 2009 she has also been a principle of the royal danish opera where her repertoire includes Elettra (Idomeneo), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Contessa Almaviva (Figaro), Ellen Orford (Peter Grimes) Desdemona (Otello), Liu (Turandot), Nedda (Pagliacci), Fru Ingeborg (Drot&Marsk), Silvia di Avila (The exterminating angel), Lulu (Lulu), Manon Lescaut (Boulevard solitude), Hanna Glawari (The merry widow), Elle in La voix humaine and many others.

In 2020 she won the danish Reumert-award as Singer of the year for her performance of Elettra in Idomeneo in Robert Carsens production conducted by Julia Jones at the royal danish opera.

Future highlight of 23/24 include her roledebut as Vitellia in Mozarts La clemenza di Tito in a new production directed by Jetske Mijnssen conducted by Julia Jones. She will also again take on Fru Ingeborg in Heises Drot&Marsk, in a production by Kasper Holten/Amy Lane conducted by Michael Schønwandt.

In 22/23 she made her housedebut at Oper Zürich as Contessa Almaviva in Figaro directed by Jan Philipp Gloger conducted by Stephano Montanari. In Copenhagen she made her roledebut as Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes in David Radoks production conducted by Stuart Stratford. She also sang Michaëla in Barry Koskys Carmen. In concert she sang Mozarts C-minor Mass, and songs by R. Strauss accompanied by Thomas Bagwell.

In 21/22 she sang Hanna Glawari in a new version of Lehars The merry widow directed by Kasper Holten and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni directed by John Fulljames and conducted by Julia Jones. She also gave a recital at Glyptoteket museum of art created especially for the Worldpride 2021 in Copenhagen accompanied by Thomas Bagwell. With ensemble Storstrøm she performed Respighi’s Cinque Liriche and songs by Cecar Franck.

In 20/21 - during the coronapandemic - she had great success as Elle in Poulencs La voix humaine in Copenhagen. She should have sung The great whore in Ruud langgaards Antichrist with BBC Scotland and Thomas Dausgaard (cancelled due to to corona) and the titlerole in Händels Theodora at the Moscow Händel festival (cancelled due to corona).

19/20 saw her as Donna Elvira both with Zuchou orchestra in Shanghai conducted by maestro Xu Zhong and at Oper Zürich (cancelled due to corona). At her homestage in Copenhagen she sang a very succesfull roledebut as Elettra in Idomeneo in Robert Carsens production conducted by Julia Jones for which she recieved a Reumert-prize as Singer of the year. To complete this Mozart-only-season she also had her roledebut as Despina in Cosi fan tutte.

In 18/19 she made her roledebut as Liu in Turandot conducted by Alexander Vedernikov and Fru Ingeborg in the danish nationalopera Drot&Marsk by Peter Heise. directed by Kasper Holten/Amy Lane and conducted by michael Schønwandt (Recorded by Dacapo) aswell as Contessa almaviva in Figaro. At Tjajkovskij Hall in Moscow she sang Angelica in Vivaldis Orlando Furioso conducted by Federico Maria Sardelli.

In 17/18 she made her roledebut as Desdemona in Verdi's Otello conducted by Pier Giorgio Morandi, and sang Silvia di Avila in Thomas Ades' Highly accaimed The exterminating angel in Tom Cairns production.

Dacapo records in 2021 released a liverecording of Heise's Drot&marsk, in which she sings Fru Ingeborg, wife of the Marshall (Johan Reuter). The recording recieved raving international reviews.

She was featured on 3 recordings released in 2014/15: Castiglionis Salmo XIX with the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Gianandrea Noseda on Chandos in 2015, the Danish composer John Frandsen's highly acclaimed Requiem with the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra from 2013 (world premiere) on Dacapo, and Verdi Requiem in a live-recording form 2012 with Per Enevold on Classico. Her EMI debutseries recording with songs by Strauss, Berg, Duparc and Poulenc recieved raving international reviews and won the award as vocalrecording of the year 2005.

Other recent contemporary roles include Silvia di Avila in Thomas Ades' The exterminating angel (2018), the title-role in Bergs Lulu in the Stefan Herheim-production from 2010 for which she received a Reumertnomination as Singer of the year, The Cheshire cat in Unsuk Chins Alice in wonderland at Bayerische Staatsoper conducted by Kent Nagano(2008) and soprano 2 in Wolfgang Rihm’s highly acclaimed Dionysos at the Holland festival with Pierre Audi and Ingo Metzmacher(2011).

An experienced early music singer, she sang the titlerole in Handels Theodora in 2017 and Costanza in Handel's Riccardo Primo (Franco Fagioli) at the international Handel-festival in 2015, both in Karlsruhe, Angelica in Haydn’s Orlando Paladino with Rene Jacobs at the Edinburgh and Innsbruck festival (2011), Angelica in Vivaldis Orlando Furioso with Federico Maria Sardelli in Moscow (2019) Amelite in Rameau’s Zoroastre with Christoff Rousset and Pierre Audi in Stockholm, Amsterdam and Paris (DVD opus Arte) (2009), Drusilla in Monterdi’s Orfeo with McVicar (2008) and Cleonilla in Vivaldi's Ottone in villa with Colonna (2014) both conducted by Lars Ulrik Mortensen.

In concert she sang Mahlers 4th symphony in Birmingham with the CBSO and Manfred Honeck, Carmina Burana in Sala Sao Paulo with OSESP and Antoni Wit, Brahms Requiem with Orchestre de Champs Elysee and Philippe Herreweghe, Carl Nielsens 3rd symphony with Stockholm Symhony orchestra and Tobias Ringborg, Lakme in Queen Elizabeth Hall, London with COG, Songs by Strauss and Grieg in Dvorak Hall, Prague with the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Thomas Dausgaard, Bergs Sieben fruhe Lieder with Arhus Symphony Orchestra and Giancarlo Andretta and Messiah with Marcus Creed and the Danish National Orchestra.

She worked with the conductors Julia Jones, Alexander Vedernikov, Michael Schønwandt, Pier Giorgio Morandi, Gianandrea Noseda, Jeremie Rhorer, Michael Boder, Julien Salemkour, Carlo Rizzi, Ingo Metsmacher, Rene Jacobs, Phillippe Herreweghe, Kent Nagano, Bertrand de Billy, James Conlon, Pinchas Steinberg, Enrique Mazzola, Giancarlo Andretta, Matthias Pintscher, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Andreas Spering, Christophe Rousset, Manfred honeck, Theodor Guschlbauer, Peter Schneider, Thomas Dausgaard, Thomas Søndergaard, Antoni Wit, Rolf Gupta, Alexander Shelley and Tobias Ringborg.
